The Birth of Anasa Laa Gives™
Throughout the years, I have always volunteered to share a little ‘cheer’ to those in need. I always wondered how to utilize my passion to help, which was sparked at a very young age. I wanted to share my light and spread love, but did not really know how. Then one day, while I was in Puerto Rico post hurricane Maria, the thought came to me. It was on my favorite holiday, Halloween. Yes, I love to dress up and have fun enjoying the festivities and consuming as much candy as your body would allow. However, since I was working, I did not even realize that it was Halloween, until I saw some of the children dressed up and trick or treating. It nearly brought me to tears, to see children happily frolicking around the hotel, where their families sought shelter post the storm. Oh how I wished I would have remembered and packed some candy to distribute and maybe a mask to partake. I simply embraced the moment, reflected on the truth, that #loveisineachmoment and you can always find the light in the darkness. That was the birth of #AnasaLaaGives. How could I bring to fruition a campaign or something to spread a little holiday cheer, regardless of the holiday? Then I thought of the winter holidays and how they surround the idea of Giving. Yes, I can host a holiday gift drive by collecting books and toys specifically to distribute to children whose families have survived disasters. On December 1, 2017, I launched the very first #AnasaLaaGives Holiday Gift Drive.
